New Roll Bar Padding

Okay, I`m sure that I`m not the only Jeep owner that needs new Roll bar pads and covers. Mine are totally faded out and look like crap.
I simply cannot afford to drop 134.95 from Bestop for friggin` padding.
Is there another source that I can find these for my TJ WITH a sound bar?
It would seem that some of the items pictured, none are pictured with the sound bars, don`t want to have to cut my new pads!

Thanks to anyone who has any Info!

I think that the pads should be okay. I don't think that you will need to cut them or anything. There are several pics in my Quadratec catalogue with roll bar pads, and a soundbar installed.

I'm actually going to be in Fayettville AR. on April 16th, but unfortunately I will not be in my Jeep. I've been to Hot Springs before, and it is very nice up there. Just thought I'd share. -al

Hey ad5at, I just ordered (and they just shipped) new roll bar padding from quadratec, but not the bestop pads. Here is what I ordered (for $79)

http://www.quadratec.com/cgi-bin/sg...QA=1&UREQB=2&UREQC=3&UREQD=4&FNM=00&x=60&y=54

The funny thing is, I also have a jeep OEM sound bar coming in on Friday as well.. If you hold off a little, I can give you the scoop next week how it all works out.

As you can tell, I have an SE that came with no pads on the center hoop and no soundbar..

I read some of the catalogue descriptions, and none of them say anything about the roll bar pads. I would not worry about it.

jugghead23, nice roll bar pads and a very nice price. Let me know how good they are compared to OEM pads (if yours had some).

Just for those SEARCHING for THE tool.

my jeep had some just none over the center hoop (strange? perhaps the previous owner pulled them off)

Couple of things...got the new pads, haven't had a chance to put on yet..but they are not the same quality as the OEM pads however, not bad either. They are not exactly Black Denim either as much as they are pure black.

Also, about the soundbar...instructions state to install, cut the padding under the the covers back 8" (to reduce the size of the bar) then poke holdes in the covers and bolt directly over the covers.

just to follow up.
Put on the new $79 roll bar pads. They are "ok". Not as sturdy as the OEM but still good enough and suit their purpose. Installation was a breeze, had to remove all seat belts from the bar to do it.

Today, installed the OEM sound bar. The colors of the pads and the OEM sound bar are a little different...pads are more pure black while the bar is jeep denim black...barely noticeable. Cut the padding underneath the covers (just the foam padding, not the zip up covers) back to allow the sound bar to seat properly. Jeep torx mounting screws suck...broke the heads off two self-tapping (I call self-breaking) screws. discarded. drilled out holes, re-tapped properly and used some 1/4-20 hex head bolts with a little thread lock, sound bar mounted...assembled the connector, plugged it in under the dash and voila...all finished.

Now my little 4-banger SE feels a little less 'bare bones'.

anyway, just wanted to follow up.

Conclusions:
1. $79 padding works fine and does what you need it to...the alternatives are $135 bestop padding or get this, $275 OEM
2. OEM soundbar on a 98 TJ better option than trying to fit the 03 and later sound pods. Holes are already in place but do yourself a favor and thread them rather than trying to use the sh!tty screws that come with the bar. Plugs right in, dome light and speakers up and running.

There was a guy on here that was giving his away. And they were brand new too!But they were for a CJ.

i just pulled all my pads off my 89 (like the more "retro" look w/out them...) and the interior carpet (goin to do the herculiner thing) -- i'm startin to think "e-bay!" - or hittin a show/swap meet!
