New Speakers

My 89yj has the original front 4x6 speakers does anyone know what will fit i have added a 400w amp with rear box speakers and a sub thanks Ray

Some just get better 4x6 speakers many upgrade to 5 1/4 two or three way speakers. To do this you need an adaptor. You could buy the adaptor or make one yourself. There is a layout for 5-1/4 somewhere in the forums. If I find it I'll post it up.

Peesonally I put 5-14 above the visors off the stock radio and they work well.

Go with 5.25 component speakers with soft silk dome tweeters, so it's not too harsh. Are you planning on adding an amp for those speakers?

The 5.25" conversion is a TJ mod. YJ's are stuck with 4"x6"s short of using a different dash.

Sir, I know i'm a bit late to respond, i just read this. Did you ever solve your speaker issue? If not...would something like this interest you? I noticed you were in Maryland...we're in Md too...maybe we could help you out? check out this build... it shows speaker pods in the kick panel area in lieu of the factory locations.
