Click, Click, Click...(with a matching hop-hop-hop)...

Coming from the rear - when turning hard & slow...

'94 Grand Cherokee FT 4X4

Nope...the Jeep is brand new to me though - just got it today - so, never having had a Jeep with a FT 4x4, I was just wondering what it might be - or if its normal...

What's the oil change trick????

what it sounds like is thet you have some sort of a locker in your rear end. the click this the planetary gears clicking and the hop is the wheel hop since both tires want to turn at the same speed

One thing to add...it is a Quadra Trac (apparently, based on the shifter I have), and in the 4WD Graphic Display Module only the front 2 wheels are illuminated (in both 4 All Time AND 4 LO)?

Hmmm...

once the rear end is locked with a locker.. you will always hear the click click....my detroit does it all the time and the wheel hop...get used to it as well.
what it is some on installed a "hard" type of locker in the rear...that means both rear tires spin at the same rate no matter what the shifters are set at. When you turn, the tire on the outside of the turn tries to speed up because the radius is larger than the inside on a turn and one tire cants go fast enough that is the hop part. The clicking is because the internal gears are messing against each other...(they were designed to do that ) because both axles are "locked" together

So then the lights in the display are maybe just burned out? I did get it rolling, shifted to N and hit the 4 LO and when I popped it back in gear I could DEFINATELY feel the rear end synche to a 4 LO...

I was just worried that the rear end was messed up - or the 4x4...you think they put in an aftermarket locker - could this disable the rear end lights in the panel display?

not sure there.. but place the rear axle on jack stands and turn a wheel while the trans is in netural and both wheels should turn the same direction..and will give you a chance to have a good long look under your jeep. Take the time to instect the drive lines , U-Joints, and all the swing arm bushing for dried /cracked or plain just broken.
