October 1st and 2nd Nine Off-Road shops will descend on Rockport Off-Road Park in Rockport, IL. They come to compete for the title of National Off-Road Top Shop Team Challenge Champion. The previous event held in April raised almost $8,000 for five different charities, and was featured in the August issue of 4 Wheel and Off-road magazine. This being the final event of the season promises to be even better.
The 9 shops, 6 4x4 clubs, ILFWDA, Rockport Off-Road Park, and all involved have decided to funnel all of their fundraising resources into one charity. That charity is the local Volunteer Fire departments in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana affected by hurricane Katrina. With the help of the 4x4 community, industry, and businesses nationwide they hope to raise funds in excess of six figures. Local communities and businesses have stepped-up in promotion and backing of this event as well as regional political influences. Along with major media outlets voicing their support, they are on their way to reaching their goal. A full length DVD will be produced by Lit Fuse Customs. 4WD companies including Cooper Tire, Warn, Detroit Locker, Redneck Concepts, JD Conversions, Reuther Jeep and Neil Tire have already committed to support the event and the cause by monetary donations and raffle prize items. As the word gets out, many more are expected to join in.
BUT THEY CAN’T SUCCEED WITHOUT YOUR HELP!
With little time to reach the public with this much needed information, 4WD clubs and their communities are encouraged to take on a very aggressive approach in making sure that the entire country knows of the unified efforts coming from many aspects of the 4WD community to provide much needed relief to those affected by the worst natural disaster in America’s history. Dreams are big and the sky is the limit in the eyes and hearts of all involved in making the upcoming “Top Shop†challenge one that will be remembered as a combined unity of the 4WD world like never before.
All donations can be directed to:

Our Jeep club will be hosting the mudbog portion of the competition on Saturday morning if anybody is able to make it. I should be there, camping at the offroad park on Friday night.
