oil blow by?

I've heard of leaking oil when PCV is non functioning due to stuck PCV valve, or, as I found on 'Black Betty' when I purchased her, the vacuum from the carb. to the oil filler neck had been removed and plugged by the previous owner~idiot.

Gus,
If the PCV is non functioning could that cause power lose? I will check the valve and go from there. thanks

Make sure the valve and breather aren't clogged. Make sure you don't have a missing pushrod/broken rocker (mine did that) Sadly, it's otherwise a broken piston/ring. (this often happens from running a motor too high of revs or pinging too much)

update i checked the pcv vavle and hose, checked pushrods and rockers. compressionn test 1-110, 3-65, 5-70, 7- 80, 2-65, 4-60, 6-65, 8-65. Think i have came to the conclusion of pulling the motor and start going through it.

Thanks will do almost ready to pull it. Know where i can get a good master rebuild kit online?

I will thank you. I just bought this about two months ago and now i figure a total rebuild would not be a bad thing then i know what has been done to it. Thanks everone for yor help

Nice! I'm rebuilding mine with 4.0L pistons to make it 10.5:1 compression for LPG, but that's a year or so from now. It ran well before I rolled my '73 J4000 and seemed okay after rolling it back. (It's going into my '82 Jeep J10 Honcho stepside with a 5 speed)

Tracy-

Nice to see pictures but I’m a little concerned about the long shackles on the front leaf springs; any troubles with the steering being sloppy?

Saddle Tramp,
Actually the steering is not bad. but i will be changing the shackles soon I did get my new motor in and running.
