OK I know its a wee bit far out in the future but Labor day week/weekend is a great time to visit Moab. I would like to get some input on a meet at Moab.
My local jeeping group is planning a run and I am hoping to invite everyone here as well.
Here is a link to red rock wheelers who organize the easter jeep safari and Labor day weekend as well. http://www.rr4w.com/

If you need more info feel free to drop me a line at war_falcon@msn.com I have tons of links for all the trails and what trails we are discussing for that week.[addsig]

Utah thanks for the offer I wish I had the money to get out there and let you give me a sand riden lesson or two. I think going in to a desert full of sand will only be done with an experenced desert runner like yourself, just like going to New York city will only happen if I am with a New Yorker! hehehehe Tug[addsig]

OK I did post this in another thread but I think the info should also be placed here

I did post a message in the events board on an up-comming ride to Moab. I am still hammering out the details with out trail leader from our local jeep group Wasatch Explorers and have settled on four trails for over the labor day weekend. We as a group are going to head down there on August the 28th and start trail riding on the 29th through september the 1st and limp home on the 2nd...lol
We are planning on camping on the US public grounds since we all own Jeeps and cant afford to stay at a nice hotel. Since we are a seperate group from red rock wheelers we dont have to pay that 50$ to them to ride the trails. Our trail leader (pathfinder) has done these trails and knows them good enough to lead our group and yes all of our friends at Jeepz.com. So with that being said its time to go to work and tell your boss/bosses that you feel a nasty flu bug comming on over the labor day weekend. cough cough yes I know mine is comming on lol ;-)
With new friends to meet and jeep stories to share I think that any who come will have a great time. The trails we are arguing over are the golden spike trail , the porcupine rim trail , the Pritchett Canyon Trail , and the steel bender trail .
All these trails are rated 3 1/2 but there are sections that those wishing to go a bit harder that they can run. There is local amenities around Moab for those wishing to rough it with mints on there pillows at night and room service.
As there is also plenty of jeep shops to fix your minor oops. LOL
We as a group leave no dead bodies along the trails so dont worry about getting out we will make sure to leave you with a good map and a soda...lol no really we are a family here and will stop the trail ride to make sure one of ours get out.
We have a varity of Jeeps doing this ride as you saw in my last trail ride pics. every thing from an Ford explorer to some modified ECOR machines to some plain ole Jeeps.

Maps and directions upon request...lol a trip to Moab through Washington D.C...and your going to trust me to give them lol.
This flu bug needs to spred fast and planning is a must!
Write me at war_falcon@msn.com
Aske me to call and send your number for any more details I am willing to pass them along.[addsig]

Yo Rob just checked the mail and the release forms and waivers arived suscesfully. Congrads on performing a minor miricle with the puter ...lol
Will do some minor editing to add the wasatch explorers group and my name for any Jeepz.com peps who can make it.
If your even planning on comming the avr. temp in late Aug is in the low 90's for the high and high 50's for the nights. A good time to go wheeling with the soft top on.
There should be plenty to do if your not that hot on trail riding that weekend. Labor day weekend has alot of the Ecor type buggies gather at Elephant hill and make some impressive runs there for your veiwing pleasure. Saturday the ladies are planning a run into town (some one is going to loose there ride that day...or two hehehe) and stroll through the local shops...an all day event I am told with a grand finish at the local ice cream shop( I might miss the trail ride for that grand fanalie part).
There is also a group going to head over to arch's nat. park and check them out, one day. Bring your camera its worth the trip.
There is plenty to do here including some of the greatest trout fishing around in the green river.
So everyone make plans and if you need more information dont hessatate to write me @ war_falcon@msn.com[addsig]

Its only a three to four hour run from Salt lake City and the word is leave before rush hour trafic and get there before noon, set up camp and maybe get in extra trail.
But if one or two members from the boards cant make it till late or some thing I am willing to alter my schedule to accomidate them.

P.S. Oh Tug we have this little place near Moab called Coral Pink Sand Dunes. For a small bribe (a cold pepsi or two) [ offer me a Coke and I will be sure to leave you suck in some deep bowl] I would be more than willin to give any who wish Duning leassons. I am towing my trailer down so adding the sand ramps and other Deep Duning gear is no problems

We have reserved a group camping spot at Kane Springs campgrounds.
at 1705 S. Kane Springs Road
Moab Utah 84532 the road is listed as Kane Springs Blv. on the maps and it sits right next to the Colorado river, it has showers, toilets and stuff.
The res is under Steven Weick and we plan on being there around noon time (Utah time/mountain) Thursday the 28th. Are res are good for till Tuesday the 2nd. We are caravaning on channle 34 from Salt Lake City and will monitor this channle all afternoon for those still on the road.
Ant and all who are going to try and make it out please sound off here so I know who to exspect and who needs my cell number.
I currently have 2 TJ's-1 CJ comming and one lone 88 XJ.

No motor yet but looking at the possibilies of trailering it out there. I need to dig into the manual for my Subaru Forester and see what it can tow.

Ok Sound and Josh I stole a page out of one of my Favorate books " Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails" by Charles A. Wells.
He has done the best so far in detailing most of the trails and gives you a very good description of the trails and route finding. He also has GPS coordinates and UTM's as well. But here is a map to the Kane Creek camping location

The Subaru can't handle towing the jeep. Well, it can but it is at it's limit. I am bummed. I will be out there this year though. I really like the trails out there! I may just try to do a straight line from here. hehehehe

Well Folks this is it...the final plans have been laid and I have been given my marching orders...(Ret) Staff Sargent Tim Grames had our field ops folder waitting on his desk (at his home).
When I arrived to go over our final camping list of goodies not only did I find a folder with my name on it but inside I had specific orders on what to bring not including my dress uniforms,(shirts, sock and yes he even specified how many to bring!). I have my travle orders (yes with time table included) down to the last mile! He even put in pit stop times LOL
We will be arriving at kamp crusty lol (kane creek camp) exactly at 1:28 pm on Thursday the 28th. Gowd help us if we are a minute late here!

Well funny stuff aside we leave in three days. I know some of you are still working on travle arrangments pull the XJ.
Well let me know as soon as you do if your commin, we have cell phone servise at Moab so if you arrive late we can talk you in or come and get you. Send me a note or post it here and I will IM you the number.
This weekend plans on being the best Moab trip ever...the route are exciting enough to pull the seat cover up with your arde cheeks and yes they are a few by-passes for those of you wishing to make it all weekend in your own vehicle...lol
Our hosts at Kane Creek Camp is promising us the best spot in the house!
Its only 5$ a night and all the 3.2 beer you can drink...lol

I take it that you are national guard or reserve? Is your unit being activated? Will you be going through the regional activation point? Good luck to you if that is what is going on!

LOL sound...since I planned on this trip with my work mate Tim Grames (RET) staff sargent). Tim and I are camping together on this trip and doing meals together. We he told me to come over today to plan out the load and get the meals settled I though we would sit around the kitchen table and hash out everything. That was not the case.. Tim drew up plans/ laid out schedules and have everything detailed out for this Moab trip..lol

LOLOL I see, I really wish I could get out there. My buddy with the Bronco does not want to go

The regional activation point is about 300 yards from my office. I have seen a lot of friends that I have made over the 17 years of active duty I did going through there recently. Guys that got out of the military and getting called back.

I really hope you guys have a good trip.
