Rancho 5000's are on sale where I am, and I was wondering what you guys think of them. Has anybody used them on their TJ? thanks

My personal experience is that I had a set on a Toyota 4x4 many years ago and I had them on it for 5 years of hard abuse. I loved them and they rode great. It's my understanding that they are made by the same company that makes shocks for most of your major lift kits. I've also heard many folks here say that they ride rough, and that may be because jeeps are lighter and they are all valved the same???

I am a fan of the Rancho's. I put a set of RS5000's on my Suburban 6 months ago and it dramatically improved the ride. I run a set of RS9000 adjustable shocks on my CJ7 and have run RS5000's on my previous Cherokees.
The RS9000's cost a little more, but you get the adjustable feature. That way you know you will like them because you can set the valving however you want it. I crank them up on the street to decrease body roll and turn them down about half way for trail use. I usually run the front shocks one notch higher than the rears.

I say go for it. they are the same as BDS and Doestch Tech. I love my BDS and have never heard anything bad about DTs.

They aren't the same as BDS and Doetsch-Tech. Rancho RS5000's are a gas-charged shock and generally ride very rough for a light vehicle like a Wrangler.

Get a smooth riding hydraulic shock like Doetsch-Tech 3000's, Rusty's Hydros, or similar. Your Kidneys and Neck will thank you.
