I have checked the bulbs and they are good. Also checked to see if when in reverse they were getting power. They are NOT. What should i do to fix this?

What year and model of Jeep?

Sounds like a bad reverse switch on the transmission. You can replace it, or bypass it with a manual switch.

5spd? Had the same thing happen on my '88 YJ. You'll find two wires coming from a switch on the side of the transmission. Cut 'em loose and install a manual switch in the cab and you'll be good to go. Or replace the switch in the transmission.

How 'bout checking the fuse first? LBR

Sorry WickedYJ, I'm a 70's CJ-5er and dunno, but someone with a YJ will chime in LBR

Try fuse number 9. This should be second fuse up from bottom right corner on inside fuse block. Should be a 15 amp (lite blue color) fuse.

Is any other circuit not functioning? Is it just backup lights only?

what do you need them for anyways. 81' CJ-5 don't work either. I put a manual in and they work three times better then stock.
