Rock Ready Lift

Before I spend $2500 on a lift, somebody PLEASE give me some suggestions. I want to run 35-15.5-15 TSL SX's on my new Rubicon, and may go bigger (37-12.5 MT/r's) . I am looking at the 8" Rock Ready by Skyjacker. Any other suggestions? Any negative feed back on this lift? NO BODY LIFTS!!! I am not dead set on this, just limited on options. Also, what can I expect from 35's and my stock 4.10 gears good/bad??

if you run 35 in tires with the factory gears you are definitly going to lose a lot of power. In my 99 wrangler I went to 33's and with the factory gears my top speed was around 50 mph. When I had a 4x4 shop in my area install a set of 4.56 gears it upped my top speed to about 75 mph and I could tell a large increase in my acceleration and all arouind power. what motor is in the rubi? 4.0 or 2.5. or does the new rubi only come with a 4.0?? it might make a big difference in your choice. sorry if this sounds kinda newbi but i was unsure of the rubi's motor options.[addsig]

The Rubi is only 4.0L, and the stock 4.10 gears will be fine up to 35" tires. It has the 4:1 low in the transfer case, so the crawl speed will be plenty low. Why do you want to go so high and make that new Rubi so top heavy? It will do fine with 33" tires and 4" or 5" of lift. Does your type of wheelin need that much lift and tire, or is this a street jeep :roll: [addsig]

This is NOT a PJ as you all call it. I am a newbi, but my Rubicon will see mud, rocks, etc. I can't give you a percentage of street versus off-road due to my schedule, but I am NOT scared of mud and rocks.

I am not against 33-15.5 TSL SX's, just don't want to regret going too small. Better to over do than under do...

So 4" double flex Skyjacker, 4.5" Rubicon Express, What is the best option?

I am really looking for some input here guys. Wide open to suggestions.

NO it's not better to over do it. It's best to let your Jeep grow as your experience level grows. The Rubi is very capable in stock form, and should be wheeled as such and modified depending on your experience level. Without experience, the 4:1 and air lockers will get you in WAY over your head, and in danger.

I've heard a lot of good things about the RE 4.5" lift.

Where do you wheel, what type of terrain? How long have you been wheelin?
Kudos to you for buying a very capable Jeep and being willing to take it offroad :-D [addsig]

Listen to Bounty. I mean good lord, boy! You got money burnin' a hole in that pocket? I would leave the Rubicon as is for a while. How much cooler would it be to ride trails that other 'big' jeeps can't do and you're in 'stock' form? Sure stock for the rubicon is loaded compared to us 2.5L pee-ons, but 8 inches... sounds like 'compensation' issue if you know what I mean... :roll:

If you've got to have something, get the Rubicon Express 4.5" and some 33x12.50. Don't get the 15.50, they would be too wide. I still can't believe you want to ditch those sweet rims and MTRs. At least run them til they're bald before getting a new set.

Thanks guys, All but Hi-c, you do not know me, and I would not expect any comment as to compensation from you. We are suppose to be a tight knit community of Jeep enthusiasts. It is a piss poor comment like that which descourages newbies form hanging around for very long, as well as the "Jeep Wave". You can bet your ass I will never wave at you if I ever find out who you are. If I offend anybody else, I'm truly sorry. I enjoy milling around here for info, but Hi-C just really pissed me off with his comments.
