Thats a pretty slick kit. Can you still lay the hood against the windshield if you want to?

You could. It uses lift struts like you'd find in a hard tonneau cover or toolbox. So, they attach to a ball stud. So, if you were doing extensive work under the hood, for example, yeah, you might want to do that so you could get it out of the way.
