Seafoam? Top engine clean?

Ok I was told that I might want to try and seafoam my engine since I have 93000+ miles and I'm about to do an oilchange and spark plug change anyway. Does anyone know the proceedure to do that?

This was a TSB (technical service bulletin) for Jeep, Ford, and Mazda (maybe more, dunno) to cure several problems depending on the engine. For mazda it was for "carbon knock" (when carbon build-up on top of the piston hit the head and made a knocking sound on the miller cycle engines), for ford it was for cold weather no-start on high mile vehicles and for excessive oil consumption on the 4.0 v6 motors, for Jeep it was for the air filter contaminated with oil and high oil consumption.

It's sorta a long process...well...an over night process.

You need:

1 can Gunk Engine Flush (the stuff you put into the oil before a change) You can use seafoam too. Each manufacturer has their own stuff for this but they are all the same crap.
A big syringe
Oil and a filter
Time

1. Take out all the spark plugs
2. Squirt flush into cylinders through spark plug holes
3. Turn engine over BY HAND a couple of times with a wrench on the front pully
4. Go watch TV for a while
5. Repete step 2-4
6. Repete step 2-4
7. Repete step 2-4
8. Go to bed
9. Wake up in the morning
10. Repete step 2-4
11. Repete step 2-4

Now, disable spark (unplug the electrical connector at the coil)

Crank engine over with the starter to blow out any left over liquid. You might want to put some old towels in front of the plug holes to catch the spray.

Take the syringe and squirt 2 or 3 table spoons of oil into the cylinders.

Crank the engine again to coat the cylinders with oil.

Put the plugs back in, hook up the coil, change the oil.

Now, the next step...make sure you are not parked in a garage when you do it.

Start it...it is gonna smke like hell....i mean really smoke. No worries, it's normal.

Run it till the smoke slows...take it for a ride to clear out the exhaust.

You are done....have a
