Seats?

Im looking for a new set of seats, possibly Corbeau, Bestop, whatever just wanted to know if anyone has replaced their seats and what they thought of them... comfy, rip easily, does the foam last?
Any help would be great, don't want to put out money to find out they suk.

I was actually thinking of the same thing today. It came about last night when I reinstalled my seats after Herculining my tub. I noticed how wimpy the seat mounts are on my stock seats, (which are about clapped out anyway). I really don't like the idea of dropping alot of money on new custom seats, so, I was thinking of cars I could get the seats out of at junk yards. My sister used to have a mid-90's Ford Probe that had really comfy/supportive seats, (possibly the only good thing about the car). I guess there are a ton of seats to choose from if you're willing to source from a Junk Yard, but what about the brackets? The driver's side brackets have to follow the contours of the tub, so not just any seats will fit. Hmmm... Guess this wasn't all that helpful to you, was it? :lol: Good Luck!!!

Always the possibility of having your seats reupholstered.Depending on the fabric you pick would determine the cost of having them redone.

I bought these seats from a junkyard. It had a torn outer lumbar cushion and upholstery on the driver side and the stitches on the passenger side are coming apart. I don't remember what car it was, but it was a 2 seater sports car. My lovely wife helped me re-upholster both seats. The Material is special ordered from a local upholstery shop. Its the same upholstery found on the GMC Yukon Dennali. The Cost for the Material was $200.00, Junkyard seats $50.00/ Pair, Labor , Priceless. I custom built the lower frames for the CJ7 Body.

What all did that entail? Did you use a beefier material than the stamped steel the OEM ones are made of?

I've re-used the lower frame and built a new square frame for the seat slider brackets. It's hard to see in the pic. I had to drive my Jeep in the building to keep it from getting pummled by hail. We are getting hit hard with this storm.

i got 2 front and rear tan seats with a redish blue disign on them for sale the front seats have brackets al 3 or out of a tj if you want to keep the brackets if your puting in a cj or yj you gota drill new wholes in the floor but the seats or in great cond

Im not sure if my .02 will help any but my 88 wrangler had new bestop seats and new sliders installed by the previous owner and I think they are quite comfy.Im 5"11 and they put me in the perfect driving position to be able to see everything.Then again Im sure he paid a pretty penny for them.

Jake: I don't mind putting out money just don't want to put out for something thats just a piece, thus the form, so thanks for the help, put some confidence in me.

I guess the other thing you might want to consider is whether or not you ever plan on running a five-point harness. I don't know if there is a mod you can do to normal high-back seats that would alot for a harness. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

No problem, I think the PO probaly paid about $200 each not counting the new sliders.I guess the bestop seats are alot like factory seats just built with a Jeeper in mind and since they are an OE replacement the fit shouldnt be an issue.
