I was lookin at getting 1 1/4 in lift shackles for my 88 yj. Should I use shackles with greasable or not? Pros and cons? Any differences? Other than grease..

i dont know that there is much of a difference at all, i mean i know the design is different but i believe they perform the same

If they're advertising 1.25" of lift it means the shackles is 2.5" longer than stock. That makes for a fugly suspension setup and it will negatively affect caster and pinion angles.

If the shacles are 1.25" longer than stock, you're only getting 5/8" of lift.

Either way, there's better ways to lift inexpensively.

Greaseable shackles will allow the springs to move easier and you're less likely to have seized bushings.

he is right, here are my stock shakles next to the bb 1.75" lift shakles i just put on (im holding the old ones up lever to where they would be mounted

(note these are in the rear and are the greaseable ones)

what are the other inexpensive ways to lift it? my jeep was messed with already and has shackels and i am looking to get rid of them and lift it a better way

A 2" extented shackle will give you 1" lift. they may advertise them as lift shackles, then a 2" shackle would give you 2" of lift, but be 4" longer than stock. The only other ways of lifting inexspensivly that I can think of would be body lift, or cut fenders. A body lift can be a pain sometimes, and not sure everyone wants to cut up their fenders, but they are options. If you get more than 3" BL you take chances of the body shifting off road.

I got 5/8 lift boomerang shackles and they are about 1.25 or so longer then stock. I put them on the front and rear with all new poly bushings and the ride has improved and I think it looks better but in reality, the lift is so slight that you cannot tell. I think that painting all the metal parts back to black is what made it look so much better
