shock mounts.....questions

i had a new shock mount welded onto my rear axle just before putting my lift on because the old one had broken off, the guy doing the weld used the old shock that had hit the ground hard many times and was probably not the straightest it has ever been, now when i put my new lift on the side that the new shock mount was put on sags a little lower than the other side, could the shock mount angle have something to do with this?? trying to figure out why i am offset here.

Shocks won't affect how level the jeeps sits.

How much different are the shock mount locations?

i mean if anything its only a few degrees off in the angle...but what else would cause that? I do know that the springs that I have for the rear are incorrect, but they are both the same incorrect ones, i was sent 2 sets of front springs and no rear springs, but all the springs are the same, which shouldnt cause a sag on one side....

What brand of lift is it?

My YJ lift has the same springs all the way around, just causes the rear to sit up slightly higher in the front, but no problems.

Could be a bad spring from the factory. Only way to be sure is to remove them and check the static height and spring rate.

BDS Lift, definatly is supposed to have 2 diff spring sets, one with 4 packs and one with 5 packs, my roommate has the same setup and his have diff springs in front and back. Hopefully its not a bad spring...i really dont want to have to swap them in and out multiple times.....

Try swapping them side to side, then see if the jeep still sags to one side or the other.

Which one is wrong, the high side or the low side? The correct one should sit level with the front. That lift should sit level front to rear also.

Things that would make the jeep not sit level:
Bad spring
uneven tire pressure
unequal length shackles
different shims or forgetting to put one on

Yeah I know, the last two are longshots. It's probably just the spring. That sucks.

You may have put the front spring on the rear. When we did you room-mates I remember taking 20 minutes to figure out what goes where cause they are poorly marked!

If the spring is in saging, it will be appearent in the shackle (will be more inverted) if the shackle is identicle front side to side, but still sits unlevel, the wrong spring in the wrong place!

Doesn't really answer my question. He could have sent you anything and said that they are front springs, mistakes happen. But..are all the part #'s identical? also what about the shackle? you may have accidentally gotten a 1.5" spring instead. than the shackles would still line up, but look like the spring is saging.

BDS are lifetime warranted. Send them back if you're not happy. Check your shackle and spring bushings.
Also if the shock is bent and stroked in from the weight of the Jeep it may not stroke out. It might be stuck. Take it off then bounce the Jeep around and see if it levels out.

yes johnny, part numbers are the same, springs are the same, identical in every way, and darrin said they were the same when I emailed him about them.

as far as the shock, its brand new, however as i said earlier the shock mount was rewelded in because it came out (i was running 3 shocks for 6 months+) so the angle on the new shock mount might not be exactly correct, however the shock does travel, it doesnt bind up or anything

what about the shackles. this will tell you exactly what is wrong!

I doubt your shock has anything whats so ever to do with this!

That's what someone told me when I was looking for my kit. The front has a higher spring rate. Most people do this if they are going to run heavy rear bumpers, hardtop, hi lift, Lg spare on the rear. The guy I bought from said that they were warrantied for life. He told me to get the rear springs for the rear, they'll ride a heck of a lot better and if by chance they do sag they'll be under warranty.

I'd send both of them back and get the proper set.
