Shock Positioning?

After I put my high pinion 44 in the front and reverse shackled it I noticed my shock isnt in a very good location. It tilts forward and my springs when they articulate it makes their angle more severe. My question is where do I mount the shock, on the frontside of the axle so it tilts backwards alot? On top of the axle, if i do this though then there wont be any shock shaft they will be bottomed out. So do i move the stock shock hoop? When it is sitting flat houw much of the shock shaft should be showing? They are 6" skyjacker shocks if that matters.

You will need to measure the full travel(Articulation) of the axle to the frame. if you think it's going beyond the travel you want, install a limiting strap between the axle and frame.. from there, position the shock absorber on the axle and frame where you think is the location and give the shock absorber at least a 1/4 of an inch before it's full extension. you can either move the stock mounts to the location you chose to mount the shocks or find an aftermaket relocation mounts. after it's mounted, to prevent the shocks from getting smashed to a bloody pulp due to bottoming out, install a bump stop on the axles..

I simply welded tabs to the top of my axletube when my 44 went in. Sounds like that may still be too far forward for you and the only fix is to move the upper tower.

The Ford SuperDuty's have some killer upper towers that work well, then you can angle it rearward so the shock is 90º to the axle travel.

that wouldnt be too far forward it woul be just right. But my shock would be bottomed out.
