I know that there are tons of guys out there who have had these things on and off. The pinion seal on my 99 TJ, (Dana 35), is leaking. BEFORE I get under there with all my tools and stuff this weekend, what size is the nut on there? In case I don`t have a socket that size, I will get one before saturday.

Thanks a million!!

I need to do this soon also. Along the same lines are there any concerns when reinstalling the yoke since the D35 pinion uses a crush sleeve (I think). Thanks.

whenever taking off the pinion nut it is a good idea to install a new crush collar at the same time. i DIDNT install a new cruch collar in my dana 30 when i took it apart to replace all the bearings and now my ring and pinion gears are toast! however i had the pinion itself out of the case so i am not entirly sure if this applies when changing the seal.

Not sure about the size, but I wnat to say it is 1-1/16" like my old Dana44 was.
You need to replace the crush sleeve and torque it down. Check the Haynes or Chilton manual for torque specs.

You'll also probably need a 1/2" impact or at least a good long cheater pipe to get it loose.
