Synchromesh Fluid? Which One?

Okay, a while back I read some posts about NOT putting GL-5 gear oil in a TJ manual Trans. because of premature wear of the brass synchros.
I went to get some GM Synchromesh because I read here somewhere that either it or Redline was a good alternative.

The oil that I have after purchase is in a Motor oil type bottle, and it says Synchromesh Transmission Fliud-Friction Modified. Part # 1 12377916
Do I have the right one for my Jeep, or should I have purchased the other GM manual Trans. oil that comes in a regular gear oil looking bottle?

When asked by the person at the counter, I couldn`t remember which one was recommended here on this site. I thought that if this was the right one, I would replace the Mobil 1 that is in there right now.

Thanks for any and all replies!!......... This stuff was EXPENSIVE!

TJ 01 full suspension

redline mt 90 or penzoil syncromesh is what id use

Is it in park?

Gear Oil usually comes in a tall pointy bottle. Make sure you are getting Gear Oil for Standards and Transmition "Fluid" for automatic.

i'm not gonna say that it is the wrong stuff... but for safety, i'd say to take it back... pennzoil syncromesh is in a standard gear oil quart bottle... yellow in color... costs about $5 per quart

Sounds like it would work, but to be sure it should say it's compatible with Chrysler manual transmissions on the back.

Penzoil Synchromesh is the most common, and Redline MT90 is the best. It's synthetic, shifts like warm butter, and may just prolong a transmission otherwise considered to be shot.
