I have a 89 yj with a 4 inch leaf lift and never had a problem with keeping the drive shaft in place. my son with a 2 inch leaf lift on his 93 yj keeps throwing the u-joint at the rear axle differential after about 200 miles. any suggestions?

Have you tried some heavy duty U joints? (although I doubt this will really "fix" your problem)

I may be able to shed some light on your u-joint problem. I have an 82 CJ-7 with a 2 inch lift and I was going through u-joints every 500 miles. I had a couple of things going on. First: I had cheap u-joints in place which doesn't help. Next, I didn't have any straps on my yokes. I've heard this makes a big difference. And finally, the biggie, my spider gears were blown. All of this made itself apparent as I decelerated and took my foot off the gas to hear a metallic thunk.....Hope this can help
