all i know is that i'm feeling lucky to be posting this....
today, early this morning, we decided to do some backroading... not off roading, just way back in the boonies on the dirt & gravel....
on the way out there.... i hit some bumps at a speed of about 40 mph.... slow for me....
the front end started shimmying like it was coming apart....
i got out and it WAS!!!!
THE TIE ROD END ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAD LOST THE NUT/COTTERPIN....
i walked back to the bumps and found the nut, drug my jack out, dropped the wheel and had the nut with a toolbox cotterpin back in it in a short amount of time....
all the time i was thinking WHAT IF I'D BEEN UP TO MY USUAL 60/70 MPH!!!! WHEN THIS HAPPENED?
whether it was good luck or GOD smiling on me, i don't know or care.... i've said my thankyou's to both to hedge my odds...
by the way... is that cotter pin a SPECIAL pin, or will just any ordinary pin big enuff to not pull thru the hole in the tie rod end good enuff?
