Water in the cockpit

I have a 94 YJ. Now this isn't a big problem, as I just pull out the drain plug and let it run out, but every time I hit a big puddle or run through a stream, water comes out from somewhere under/behind the dashboard. I've noticed it only happens when water washes up over the hood (like it is coming in through the hood vent). Water will then pour into the driver side floor board. Is there anyone who has had this problem and can help me remedy this[addsig]

Yes, I have. Sell it now!!!! Before it blows up!!!!! Just kidding. I did have the same problem with my '94, however. Simple to fix. Step one: pop the hood. Step two: pop a beer. Step three: look in the engine bay at the firewall. Step four: see step two again. There is a hose that comes out of the wall, I believe it is a little left of center, that allows the hood vent to drain down outside the Jeep, and not on your feet when you accelerate. The hose is probably just clogged from mud and leaves and stuff that has fallen into your hood vent. It detaches easily. Just wash it, spray it out with a hose or sumptin' like that. That's all. Hope that works for you. -Matt.

I had the same problem...I thought it was the windshield frame seal, or the air intake for the heater but it wasn't either. I found the leak to be where the hood meets just under the windshield. (where the horizontal area of the hood meets the vertical area just under the windshield frame seal). There is seam sealer in that area which cracks over time and the water will leak in there. I've tried new flexible seam sealer but it just seems to crack over time. Silicone works well but it isn't paintable if you ever plan on repainting the jeep. I've looked around for some paintable silicone but haven't found any yet. Try running a hose over this area without letting water into the air intake for the heater and if it leaks, you know where the problem is. I went with silicone and haven't had a problem since.[addsig]
