i am wondering what size tires to put my 1999 jeep cherokee i really dont want to put a lift kit on my jeep. i have 15 inch rims. i was looking at 29 or 30s.

29" or 235/75R15 is about all you can fit, may still rub minimally under flex.

i have a 97 that i put 30 X 9.5's on with a stock suspension. i really didn't like the way it looked though... the tires completely filled the wheel wells and it just didn't look right, plus i had absolutely no room for flex whatsoever and i rubbed whenever i turned sharp enough. since then i've gotten a 3 inch lift and cut-out flares, and love it now. i definitely wouldn't advise going to a larger tire without a lift (even the 29's are gonna be a pretty big change).

30x9.5's will fit fine and look good too.. i run them on my ZJ and have a friend with a 99 XJ and they fit... you may rub at full lock or when stuffing them, but thats all, no loss of flex, they just clear the wells....

30x9.5 is just too big, that size even rubs on YJ's and they have larger wheel openings than the XJ. The XJ has the smallest wheel wells of any jeep and it takes more lift than other jeeps to clear larger tires.

We had a '98 XJ with 30x9.5 GSA's with a 3" lift, good combination, no rubbing, and looked proportionate. I'd say 2" minimum lift to clear 30" tires.

Just cuz you can bolt on a tire and it can sit still without hitting, doesn't mean it works.

ive got like a 32 on my xj with only a daystar kit. i had a set of tires too wide and wen i was roadin they rubbed the jeaf spring and popped one, not cool.

well what i was thinking of doing was putting on a rubicon 2 inch lift or 3 inch lift and put on some 31" futura tires. Beacuse the only thing i would really do with the tires is go the the hill climb. Or go to cape cod and go on the beach because the trails near my house dont f*** around. To many of my freinds have busted and broken there jeeps and trucks. But if you guys now any decent trails near my area tell me. Because we need places to do around hear.
