Yesterday I did sone "winter readiness" type work on the 01 XJ; put the front driveshaft back in, (more on why it was out later) front brakes, cleaned adjusted rears, new tires, (nothing special just something not "bald" to make it thru anticipated snow) valve cover gasket and a new oil sending unit (after 167K miles all of a sudden my pressure was "REAL good"; like over 80PSI; doesn't oil pressure tend to drop on a motor with wear on it?)
When I called on the brake parts I called 3 places and stopped at a 4th; Not a damn single front rotor in my town, that didnt come from China!:bomb::x My Jeep was not made in china; I dont live in China; and when I turned wrenches for a living (18 years worth) cars that went out the door with new China rotors were way more likely to come bcak in a short time pulsating than rotors that came from USA or Canada. and I hate re do's especially on my own stuff! Even Raybestos ones said CHINA on the box! I'd rather pay more for better parts. (Made domestically is a huge start there!)
Same story on valve cover gasket; $33 for another chinese POS! WTF? Victor brand one of the oldest names in gaskets at that!
