YJ needs a new power plant Possible TJ?

CJ pricing question?

My 95 YJ is in need of new life and I know a guy who has an 02 6 cyl engine and another guy who has a 98 5 speed transmission. Anybody know if the newer power plant will fit in the older body? Does anyone see any problems that I would run into when putting all of this in my 95 YJ that is currently a 4 cyl auto?

the motor should be all ok to do... they might have done some drivetrain changes, not sure

You'll need the 4.0L computer, and the transmission will have to be from a 4.0L. You'll need a transfer case from a 4.0L, or change the input on your 4banger transfer case from 21 spline to 23 spline to bolt to the 4.0L transmission.

You'll have to cut the 2.5L motor mount perches from the frame and weld on some for the 4.0L motor mounts, don't know if you can buy the perches or have to fab your own.

It will fit, and the motor will fit that transmission if it's from a 4.0L originally. Get as much as the 4.0L wiring harness as possible, and good luck.
