    cherokee won't start

mostly its the connector that fails. I have heard of people soldering the wires, but you can get a new sensor for about $50. To install there are two bolts that need to be pulled out that are on the bell housing (drivers side). I used a series of extensions and universal joints to get to them...

    Help with Neighbors XJ

Sounds like a bad CPS (crankcase positioning sensor) There is a electrical connector next to a vaccum line on the drivers side firewall. Try unplugging this and re connect it. This connector typically fails not the senor. Replacing the sensor can be easy or hard depending on how many socket...

    Closed system coolant bottle

You can get one for real cheap from quadratec. I think I paid $30 to get it to my door. Cheap insurance in my mind.

Winch mount on a 88 Xj

84 CJ 7 FOR SALE I have one on my '88 made by ramsey. I am not too sure if they make it anymore, but it bolts to the subframe and looks like a brush gaurd.

    Deals on Wheels

I think $45 is a good deal. When I got my 767's they were $55 buck about 8 months ago. (By the way these rims bend easily so I would get them new or you might be getting ripped off on ebay)

    Alignment specs different after lift?

Any "good" alignment shops with a newer setup should be able to get the specs on it for you. I would take it to a place where big trucks get aligned, they might be able to help you.

Help with 88 Cherokee 4.0-Backfiring issues!!!!

Don't know if your still having problems, but it sounds like the computer bit the dust. S ounds similar (not in all repects to what my 88 did). A garage that has a snap on scanner should be able to find the fault codes, but this really will not help you if it is the computer. If you can, get...

    Are lift results typical?

Seems about right. I believe that the front and rear fender flares are at different heights.

    Cherokee won't start.

Sounds like the crankcase positioning sensor mounted on the bell housing. Easy check... Near the rear of the engine there is the connector to the Cps. (Its the one with three wires and runs behind the engine) Unplug it and reconnect it. Crank the engine. Try this a couple of times. The...

    Aux. Cooling Fan Not working?

The new radiator switch did not work. I can not get the fan to come on. I believe I have some air in the system, so I bleed the system multiple times. The jeep is not over heating, but is running at 210. I know this is normal, but it ran a lot cooler before, because I took out the A/C condenser...

    Aux. Cooling Fan Not working?

I replaced the relay and ran the A/C and the fan did not come on. I could not see the diode trio, but I will look again. Thanks for the suggestions. -Brandon

    Aux. Cooling Fan Not working?

I have a 1988 Cherokee with the 4.0 inline six. I have a stock auxillary a/c cooling fan that will not turn on. It just stopped working. The fan unit works (I hotwired it), and I replaced the thermosat. I looked for the relay and replaced the one right near the windshield washer tank on the...

    No spark????

The wire harness on the crankshaft positioning sensor usually goes bad before the magnetic sensor. (THATs what happened to me) Try giggling the connector and see if your jeep will fire up. The CPS is one of the first thing the computer checks before sending a spark. Its a 40 part that I got at...

    old man emu xj lift

I have OME Rear springs (3" lift) They ride really nice on the road, and flex nicely off road. Worth every penny. They only make 2.5" coil springs so, if your happy with 2.5" of lift then get this kit. Rubicon express has about the same reputation as OME.

    Coil Spings

I just installed my 4.5" RE coils and springs have an arch to them. (The bumpstop rubs the spring). Is this common? Has anyone had this issue? I have fixed lower control arms and adjustable uppers witht the uppers set 1" longer than stock. Could it be that I need to adjust the uppers so that...

94 Cherokee didnt start, then turned off

1062526 If its a fuel problem you can do a pressure test on the fuel rail to see if its the pump. With a combination pressure testure you can do a capicity test to check the flow. The pressure tester is a good thing to have and can be picked up at your local parts store. Mine was $40.[addsig]

    93 Cherokee that stalls....every 6-10 miles

1062533 Before spending the money trying checking the CPS with a volt ohm meter. I forget what the values are but they are in the shop manual. Also try unplugging the conector a few times and try starting your jeep. 99% of the time the CPS fails at the connector and can be a pain to...

    TeraFlex Upper Arms Too Big?

1069087 After a quick phone call I got everything straightened out. Bent upper mounts. I had to pry it out to make it fit. :-) [addsig]

    Cherokee Dies at idle

1048838 I have both the haynes and Chilton's manuals, and they really have been no help to this situation. I did a compression test and a fuel pressure test and everything checks out fine.. All the vacuum lines look good (no leaks as far as I can see) I checked the CCV valve and it was perfect...
