    inline 6 strokers?

I'm going to have to take a bit of a trek to get to a dyno, maybe the hour and a half to Chicago for that. I know that with the stock 3.54 gears and 33x12.50 KM2s it pulls just as hard at 80mph as it did off the line with the motor all stock. I ate both the spider gears in the stock D44 and put...

    inline 6 strokers?

you don't need forced induction or a stroker to get over 400lbft I'm running a 4.0 +.060" 10.5:1 and a Clifford Performance 264h cam with nearly everything else stock and easily well over 300lbft @3,300rpm. I'm looking to put in a Redline Weber TBI and new dual 2 1/4" exhaust soon and should be...

    D44 rebuild help

Does anyone have or know where I can get all of the install specs for installing a detroit locker with 4.56 gears into my TJ D44? I have all of the parts, just can't seem to find any data on torque, preload and backlash etc.

    gear selection

Mine is a Sahara with a production date of 10/96 and has the D44. There is no indication that it was swapped in. especially since it still had the factory jeep shocks.

Called my local jeep dealer and all they offer is a complete gear kit with the ring and pinion... any ideas on where to get just the internals?

    gear selection

would this require re-shimming everything? or should I just be able to drop them in?

    gear selection

I had heard that they were ARB. still, pneumatic lockers require a compressor that I don't want to deal with. At any rate, this whole thing started because I've damaged the spider gears in my diff. It looks as though I can drop a powertrax no-slip (#92-0444-3020) in to replace the trac-loc and...

    gear selection

everything I've seen thus far indicates that it is factory. The 44 was listed as an option in the 97 Sahara. there is a decal in the bottom of the glove compartment with a warning about the Trac-Loc mechanism. It also has a 19gal fuel tank, which is an uncommon option on early TJs but it is...

    gear selection

I've rechecked and the rear axle is a Trac-Loc D44 (apple shaped cover with a metal fill plug). I can't find the ratio on any tags, the only tag on it says to use LSD oil only.

    gear selection

I have the 5spd. It's a 97 Sahara without the tow package so I'm pretty sure it has a D44 with a 3.73 LSD. With the 33s it's been really sluggish on the hwy. I'm just afraid of the fuel econ if I go to 4.56. Does anyone make something around 4.30? Regardless I'm going to have to replace the...

    gear selection

It's time to rebuild the rear end in my TJ and I'm looking for advice on what ratio to use. It currently sits on 33x12.50 BFG KM2s. I mostly drive it around town, often towing, but I often make hwy trips. I've rebuilt the 4.0 with internals from Clifford (.060" over, 264 cam) so power isn't a...

And be easier on the motor with all the city driving and towing I do with it.

    PCM programming / ignition timing

No, I wanted to get it together and running since it's my only (drivable) vehicle. I used a Cloyes true time timing set that doesn't allow much adjustment anyway (2 retard, straight up, and 4 advance). I haven't seen much for timing sets that offer more for the Jeep/AMC I6. At any rate, I...

That's what I figured. Honestly I thought it would lope more until I got the cam card and saw the 114 lsa

    PCM programming / ignition timing

The afr graph looks a little wild, but that could be due to the narrowband O2 sensors. It does show a slightly irregular lope at idle (736-768rpm) but it sounds pretty smooth.

    PCM programming / ignition timing

17 degrees at 992 rpm. 31 degrees at 1984 rpm. The highest value I have is 41 degrees at 2560 rpm
