I just got my first jeep, my first job and Christmas is coming up. What're the best upgrades for my 97 TJ 4 banger? What're some of the things that I should do for it? I have a little 2 inch lift, 31's, and a hard, soft, and Bimini top. What should I carry in my jeep as well?

Oh man. Should we even start guys. Haha. Just remember jeep stands for just empty every pocket. I'll give u some tips wen I get done driving

Well I've had my jeep for almost a year in the family. But it just recently became mine, I got the wave down and what jeep really stands for. I find whenever I have any money it disappears for gas or something else related to the jeep. And thanks, sounds good!

Well let's start with Wat kinda climate u live in and if ur gonna use it for mainly wheeling or daily use or a mix

I live in North Texas. I drive it daily, however a couple of my friends have jeeps and trucks so I'd like to offroad when the opportunity is there.

Ok well I started off like u. I had a 95 yj with 4 in lift with 33's. Some extras like lights and bs. And i had no problems grtting most places i wanted to go.I have moved to Bigger and better thingz now. I gotta 05 tj with 6" lift all round and 35x15x12.5 tires I have a smitty built stinger bumper on the front with the src 8k lb winch with a couple lights up there. I have 6 inch bushwacker flat fenders all around and a flowmaster 40 series exhaust with intake. On the rear I have flushmount round led tailights and swing out tire carrier with a highlift jack on it. Looking into a couple things like lockers and some kings or Bilstein shocks seeing that I'm due for some. I always keep a bag of tools and some extra fluids in the bak along with a tow rope. I have had great times and not been in a bad situation yet. But that comes from experience. I would def keep tools fluid a tow rope, a jack and flashlight at minimum and never wheel by urself. If u wheel in a cold or hot area pack for the climate just in case. But if u wanna get into new stuff or need tips on current stuff lemme know

Any local off road shop will have a high lift jack. Should run about 60 bucks but be carefull if not used right it can slip The one under the seat won't work I don't think cuz u may be too high. And fluids I just take an extra qt of oil, some coolant, power steering fluid a old towel some zipties and of course duck tape i also carry some extra electical wire and tape and stuff. Basically think wat u would need if u were stuck or broken down somewhere. Bring tools for wat u know how to fix. everything else leave up to the tow truck ha. Look on the Internet too and c wat people are saying on google.

I mean I've done axel swaps on trails b4. But is that something u would or can do on the side of the highway. Prob not. Ha

I like my hi-lift, but I don't use it that much - it's not really suited to working on the Jeep in the driveway (i.e. changing tires, etc.). For Christmas I'm getting a heavy duty floor jack with a long reach (something like 21").

I ran with a 2 inch lift and 31s for a while and liked it. I'd start with the small things:

Husky floor liners
Nice seat covers
aftermarket radio with ipod hookup
Mirror movers that relocate the mirrors from the doors to the body (so you can go without doors).

As far as what to keep with you, I only have a socket set (one of the 72 or so piece kits).

Now if you're talking about what to take offroading that's a different story:
full tool kit
fire extinguisher
tow hooks (front and rear)
tow strap (the kind without hooks on the ends)

Those hi-lift jacks can be bought at Tractor Supply and farm stores too. I got mine at a flea mkt for $10.00. In my Cherokee I always kept a gal of drinking water, that way if I ever needed a drink I had it and if the Jeep ever needed it, it was there.

A girlfriend that likes to chase rabbits is a good thing to have with ya.Along with granola bars,or other types of handy snacks in case ya break down and she dont get no rabbit.
