2.5 Litre Rough Idle

I have a very rough idle which seems a little worse after it warms up. It starts easy runs great at all speeds doesn't stall. I have a new fuel filter new platium plugs distributor cap , plug wires and air filter. What could it be? Thanks in advance.[addsig]

is it pre 91 with the tbi or newer with the multi port? if its tbi i have no clue if its multi port then idle position switch would be my first guess they are about 90.00 dollars just bought one helped alot

This is the 2.5 with TBI. One big injector where the carb would be. Has anyone replaced the injector for a rough idle prob?[addsig]

I had the same problem about 3 months ago on my 89 YJ. I also have the TBI fuel injection. counldn't figure it out to save my life. So I took it to the dealership and they said that platinum plugs don't work well with this engine. They put in the copper champion plugs and it ran fine.



If that doesn't work, check for leaks in your intake manifold. To much air can cause a combustion problem. Also, when I took it to the dealership, they did a 'recall' check on my Jeep's VIN number and found that there was a recall on the O2 sensor and they replaced it for free. Might want to get that checked out as well.
