2003 TJ slave cylinder

While out wheeling, I lost my clutch and had to limp her home. Once I got home I slid under the jeep I noticed the end of the slave cylinder where the hose connects to was cracked and allowed the hose to come out, draining my master cylinder.

I replaced the hose with a stainless steel Russel hose, and a new Slave (without the retaining straps). I had the rod compressed while filling the resevoir.

I filled the slave resevoir and bled the line before attaching and bolting back up tightly. Once everything was tight I topped off the master and engaged my clutch a few times, topped off, engaged my clutch, and topped off.... I then noticed the fluid was draining from my bell housing, and the bottom bolt of the slave.

Does anyone have advice or info? This is the first time I've done one, and my fellow buddies have never done one either.

Is this all because I installed a slave without the retaining straps?

Thanks guys.

The whole purpose of the strap is to keep the rod and plunger seal in place.. if the rod didn't sit on the clutch fork dimple as you installed it, then it would pop out with the whole plunger when you step on the clutch and thats probbably why its leaking out of the bell housing.

Thats what I was begining to think...
The only reason I cut them, was the OEM did not have the straps on when I took it off the transmission, and the new part did not come with instructions.
Guess I paid for that lesson.

Thanks!!
