86 cherokee exhaust

im posting this for a buddy of mine. he bought an 86 cherokee with a cherrybomb exhaust. he needs to get through emissions and it doesnt have a cat. so he needs to know what other vehicles and years he can get an exhaust, say from a junkyard, that will bolt onto his rig. he has the 2.8l v6.

oh thats a little far im in cali, new cat and muffler for that jeep will be about $120 at the auto parts store.its illegal for a junk yard to sell used cat, but the muffler with pipes is like $20. hope that helps. -jason

also i believe that 84-86 2.8L xj is the only compatible exhaust for the jeep

I'll check my neighbor's Comanche with 2.8 on thurs and see if it still has it. He wants to sell it for $100 and I have a replacement 2.8 V6 with fuel injection (my son fixed up an '86 Chev Celebrity that had a crate GM motor then found out it had black mold in it) I want to put in. No E test for '86 and older rigs here in WA after Jan 1.

pretty much any jeep from 86 to 95 will bolt up to his so just go to a juunkyard and pick one out, with same engine of course
