I put it in 4wd, and then turned it back to 2wd and it never disengaged in 4wd. the jeep is lifted as well, any suggestions?

Try driving in reverse for about 50 feet or so. That'll do the trick sometimes.

If that doesn't work, try unplugging the vacuum harness from the passenger side front axle. Plug it back in and crank it up. It may be as simple as the vacuum isn't releasing.
Or it could be that the shift fork in the axle isn't releasing. That could mean the vacuum motor isn't working or the fork is sticking.

Is it just that the 4wd light is on?

If the transfer case lever moved to 2wd, you're in 2wd.

The 4wd light is only an indicator that the front axle disconnect is still engaged, as it is in 4wd.

the 4wd light was on and it was engaged. i heard form some 1 else to undo the vacuum plug and i did so it did not disengage immediately. But ass soon as i got on the highway i just looked down and it was disengaged. So I take it that was the prob. Thanks for the help

since when did a '94 have a CAD.

Since the YJ first came out in '87, and until it was discontinued in late '95. Every YJ, and most XJ's and MJ's have the CAD. Some Grand Wagoneers also had it in the D44.

i thought thay got rid of the hole CAD thing in late 87/88 or something. ofcourse this may be one of the many cases ware im wrong.
