95 Jeep Wrangler not disengaging 4wd

I have a 95 wrangler with a 4.0 and 5 speed. A couple of weeks ago, I went wheelin' with some friends in the mountains and after all the fun I took my Jeep out of 4wd and the light in the dash would not go off. I drove it home and crawled underneath to see what the problem was. I removed the actuator from the front axle and found the coupler still engaged hence the reason for the light still being on. I checked out all the vacuum mechanism at the front axle and all seems to be fine. Next I checked the vacuum lines coming in and figured out the vacuum is not changing from one side to the other to engage or disengage the actuator. Here is my question, Does anyone have any information on how this system works inside the transfer case? I found the square vacuum plug on the side of the case but see no access to service this unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One of two things. Either a vacuum leak in the lines leading to the front axle, or a bad vacuum switch at the transfer case.

The switch on the transfer case is easy to replace, it simply unscrews once the vacuum lines are removed. Many auto parts stores have the switch, either behind the counter or in the aisle in the 'help' section.

Thanks. I did not know if it was supposed to unscrew or if you had to remove a clip in the inside. I had narrowed it down to this point.
