Hello everyone, just wanted to get soem insight from any grand cherokee owners out there. I have slightly oversized tires on my grand, meaning they rub a little on the roll bars when i turn fully. My question is that I have developed this shake that I think/ feel is comming from the drivers side. It seems to do it atcertain speeds, more between 60-70mph. If i speed up on the freeway at do more between 75-80mph, it goes away. Now keep in mind that my jeep currently has 193,000 miles on it. And, it still will not shift into 4th gear or overdrive. I have narrowed that down to the ECM, governor pressure switch, selnoids, or something on the throttle body. Not sure if that would make a difference or not. It could be a possible case of the tires being off balance, which i am going to take in anyway and check the alignment as well. I also do not have any roll bars on the vehicle becuase they bend and brake with the 2 inch lift, I guess i need disconects instead. Any thoughts, ideas, or opinions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I have experinced the death wobble, which is where the jeep shakes violently from side to side untill you slow down just so we are talking about the same thing, in both my 97 grand now and my 2000 cherokee sport. It doesnt do that, just a light to moderate wobble but then goes away when you are going certain speeds. By the way, is there a source for that death wobble? Scares the crap out of me when it happens. Let me know. Thanks.

its caused by alot of different problems, it happened to me after i took my cherokee to get a tire rotation and oil change at a chevy dealer, i had dw at 45mph BAD, i couldent figure out what was wrong, i also had a problem at the time with my tires rubbing my vontrol arms, so shortly after i got the dw i put on 1.25" spidertrax wheel spacers so the tires wouldent rub anymore, that required me to take off the tires and torque the spacers as i put them on, i also retorqed the tires and it turns out the source of my problem was that the shop i went to for the oil change and tire rotation used a air wrench that diddnt work properly and the tires were not torqued correctly causing dw

I will have to check that out. The last shop that changed my tire was Belle Tire and they sometimes have people that dont know what the hell there doing. Thanks for the info.

I think your problem is the front track bar. Ive experienced the same problem and that's what it was. Hope it works.

Im anthony and im sending this message using my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Jeepz

Sounds like a tire balance issue.

I'd definitely get the swaybar endlinks attached (what you call roll-bar) as soon as possible.

By bro's YJ had a bad shake on the front end and couldnt figure it out so he took it to the shop. they said it was the steering stabalizer, put new one on and it went away.. He got a grand cherokee and had same problem, so he put on a steering stabilizer and problem went away.. May try that!
