Yeah, I'm probably not using the correct term, but I mean with the axle installed, how much movement is normal if you push the hub in as far as it will go and then pull it all the way out. I got .010 on one side and .016 on the other axle. Made me wonder what it is supposed to be and if it was to much would it indicate a worn bearing.

Generally, rear axle end play on a tapered axle shaft like the Dana44 is measured in thousands of an inch. A properly setup D44 would measure from .001-.007".

However, I would pull the shafts and check everything out or have someone do it. If you choose to do it yourself, pay attention to tightness of flange bolts, condition of seal, scoring of races, amount/quality of bearing grease, visibly wore parts etc.
