98 TJ manual trans. starting problem

My TJ just stopped starting. Push clutch in, turn ignition, nothing happens. I found that if I turn ignition on and manually close contacts on starter motor relay it starts and runs fine. My guess is that the Clutch Pedal Position Switch is not working. It is inside the clutch housing and difficult to get to.
If I could find the Clutch Pedal Position Switch Connector (cppsc) I could jump it out and verify this but I have no idea where the cppsc is. Can anyone help me?

I think there's a fuse you can remove that will allow starting without the clutch engaged, maybe look for that.

It is the Neutral Safety Switch and yes there is a mod to be able to bypass it. I hope this helps and good luck with it.

it should be a similar circuit in that it only allows the starter to engage in park or neutral w/an auto or when the clutch is depressed on a manual - dont know if its a fused circuit or not - doesnt make sense to have a fuse as its not a powered (current drawing) circuit - but it should be a lead (opent to function and grounded to start - much like a door pin works the interior lights when the door is open - could be the opposite tho...) and should be easily bypassed by snipping or grounding out depending...... g'luck and let us know!

Try looking under the Dash. follow the clutch pedal to the BellCrank. the switch your looking for might be there.
