There are many things that could be causing the A/C system to not blow cold. The first and most important thing to do is to check (or have checked) the system pressures. Note that the A/C system is under high pressure! They will help in diagnosing the problem. If it is low on refrigerant (R134a), don't just add more... fix the leak. Another possible cause is that hot air from the heater core is mixing in while the A/C is on. Check that the hot water valve to the core isn't stuck open.

Good Luck

You don't need no stinking A/C just drive into the nice cool woods and splash around in a mudd hole. hehehehe Tug[addsig]

I am with ya Tug! Convert that A/C compressor into on-board air so you can use your impact tools on the trail.
I am working on this conversion and will post a how-to when I get it done. I am trying to get another problem fixed first.[addsig]

I dont know if I agree with losing the A/C all together. For us northern boys when it gets above 90 degrees we start melting. Unless you can take the top down the A/C is definitely coming on.[addsig]

A few more clues would help...Is the compressor running or not??...does it blow air that isn't cold, or does it not blow air at all?? does it do better morning and night and not good during the heat of the day?? Answer all of these questions and there should be enough info for me or someone else to possibly help..

As for the A/C...today it was 107 on the roof I was on and the R/H was 92%...You bet I had mine crankin' on the way home. But i'm takin' 'Er out for the mudbath tonite.. :) [addsig]

There are many things that could be causing the A/C system to not blow cold. The first and most important thing to do is to check (or have checked) the system pressures.
First I would start the jeep and start the A/C....with the hood open. check to see if the compressor clutch is kicking in and turning.. your should notice the motor running a bit slower and see the RPM's change. it the compressor is kicking in then your low on refrigerant. Have a trained servise person put it in since your high side of the system runs at a certain pressure. Over filling the line damages the rotory compressor vanes and pushed the system oil through your low side of the system filling your dryer with compressor oil make a bigger repair bill then you want. Then have him run a sensing devise along the bottom side of your lines looking for a leak. A normal car A/C unit is exspected to loose 1/2 oz of refigerant a year since the system is put together with flexable line. Most automotive A/C shops charge as little as 39.99 for this servise.[addsig]
