AC knob not working

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo. the Air Conditoner works however only comes through the defrost vent. If you turn the knob to re-direct the air to the vents or the floor the knob moves however it does not re-direct the air. I am not sure if a cable of something is loose or disconnected?

Has anyone ever had this problem? Anyone know what I can do?
I am trying to avoid the pricy dealers and took it to a couple shops today and they said they didnt know how to fix it.
