What alternators will fit my 94 YJ with 2.5 piece of crap? I am not about to put a $125 alternator in my jeep when the engine is coming out as soon as I make about $2500. I blew out the alternator going through 2 deep mud drags. IT WAS WORTH THE FUN THOUGH!!!!
I made a promise to myself that NO MORE MONEY goes into this 2.5.

There is a 136 amp alternator that will bolt right in, OEM PN:56027913 found in:
1997-1998 Dodge B.Series Van
1997-1998 Dodge Dakota
1998 Dodge Durango
1997-1998 Dodge Ram Pickup
1997-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Search www.car-parts.com and they can ship you one, usually $35 to $50.

It's a real simple bolt-on, and about the most amps you can get for the money, which is a good thing. They'd charge you about the same amount for a stock alternator, so why not upgrade?

I think after christmas, i'll be going dual battery with that setup.... did anyone notice the first reply to that original post linked by bounty.... i'm so glad i'm a part of this board.

Snitty,

I agree completely. It's amazing how trashy that Forum appears to be. Why would anyone spend their time trying to help or learn from them?

Ya, It's about as bad as they get, I can't stand anybody talkin trash. I only use it for the tech info, and won't ask anything over there. I don't ever need help that bad.

I bought the damn thing and now it still won't start. I think the batery is a goner also!!!!!!!!! I AM SO PISSED ON THIS CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!!

Well, unfourtionately most standard car batteries aren't made well, and discharging them down to near empty can and will damage them. The main problem is the battery will no longer hold a charge.

It is ALWAYS a good idea to change battery and alternator at the same time to avoid any probelms.

Merry Christmas

when your battery's warranty is almost up... you can always take it back and get a new one with a new warranty... if they build them crappy, and warranty a turd, then they can help you keep it running
