Alternator wiring

I have a 80 Cj5 That I just recently put a 350 in. I have a brand new battery and the alternator tests good, but I'm not getting any charge from it when its in the Jeep running. So my wiring from the swap must be wrong? right? Does anyone know the correct wiring to the alternator from the factor wiring harness from a '80 cj5 4cyl? Thanks

The first thing we need to know is which type of alternator are you using. I would recomend the old style gm. It has a plug in on the top with two wires and one stud on the back for the battery wire. If this is the alt. that you are using you need to run a wire from the battery to the alternator stud on the back. The only other wire you need to hook up is the wire on the right hand side if you are looking at the alt from the back. That wire needs to be hooked up to a keyed hot wire ( meaning one this is hot when your key is in the on position). That should do the trick for you I hope.
