another transfer-case question

my front drive shaft is not moving when i'm in 4wd.also there claking noises when i'm not in 4wd.only when i accerelate.please give me some aswers.thanks[addsig]

Make sue your transfer case linkage is properly adjusted. If that checks out and the front shaft does not turn in 4wd, you've got issues inside the transfer case.[addsig]

check your vacuum lines as well... i think it is bounty that has a good diagram of that system[addsig]

well i took the front shaft of to see if i can take the case out.turn jeep on and the front yoke is now turning so i put the shaft again and it does not turn.could this be the chain.i already check the vacum hoses and those are fine.thanks guys[addsig]

check and make sure that your hubs are not locked when you are in 2WD.... if they are locked in 2wd at higher speeds it will make those noises.

With the front shaft oout, could you stop the front yoke with your hand? It may just be some slow spinning caused by the spinning of the chain inside the transfer case, even though there is no real power going to the front. The rotating mass of the front drivetrain stops this parasitic spinning.[addsig]
