bought an 84 cj7 today! :) get it next week sometime, shipped over to me from out of state(spent its life until last year in arizona, now in cleveland,ohio..having it shipped to me in raleigh,nc and cant wait to get it!)

im considering adding a/c since we get nice 100 degree augusts here and it will be my daily driver for at least the next 3 months while im restoring my 79 z28(which has been my daily the last 5 years and was recently ripped open by the edge of a trailer backing out onto a road i was driving 55mph on :/...guess i just dont like new cars lol)
i have found aftermarket complete kits for around 800 bucks or so. how difficult is the labor? im used to fixing up to moderate problems on the z28,but never have done anything with a/c before. or...anyone want to take a guess at what labor at a shop may cost? just want to weigh my options.
im happy to have officially become a member of the JEEP community, wanted one for several years now :)
if anyone has some info on trails in the raleigh area shoot me a message at sacredgroove@nc.rr.com im ready to get dirty!!! thanks for the help everyone! Dave

I've installed several of the aftermarket units. They are actually surprisingly easy to do. Most come with VERY detailed instruction. If you don't have a vacuum pump and charging station, I would hit up an a/c shop for the evac and recharge. OH YEAH, WELCOME to the family and to Jeepz.com[addsig]
