Barefoot Running?

So I've been doing a lot of reading on this subject and it seems to have quite a strong following. Does anyone here have any experience? I've never really enjoyed running, but I do like the feeling I get when I'm done and I used to be fairly good at it. I'd like to get back to that level and maybe even start to enjoy it.

What? I ain't taking off MY boots out here in THIS desert ..OUCH!!

I grew up barefoot along with every other child in the neighborhood. Tar roads or the bush veld or even playing sport was all done barefoot. Got my 1st pair of shoes at the age of 13, but even still today I like to go out barefoot when I can.

Only in the summer months do wear shoes while driving in the desert, the winter months barefoot. Love to feel the sand between my toes.

As for running.....no ways. I would cycle before running. God gave us engineers. Lets use use them

The idea behind it is that the human foot was designed to walk and run. By putting shoes on it gives your body a false sensibility and helps to create some injuries. Also, the foot becomes weaker by being cushioned by the soles, as most people walk in a heel-to-toe style.

There have been a few articles about it lately in the local papers. I don't run with shoes on so unless some one starts chasing me whilst I'm barefoot, I'm not running barefoot either. You could try these if you don't want to go completely barefoot. You can read about them in the above linked article.

With the rate I wear down running shoes...I couldn't imagine running barefoot! I don't think I'd have anything left of my feet

I've read a lot of reviews on the VFF's and I think I'm going to get some in a few weeks. My plan is to start off slow by just walking around in the VFF's and then transition into running with them and eventually with out.
