Rear off-road or stock bumper XJ cheap

Ok, i am into cars as well as my love for my tj so of course i want speed. So after much argumentation about getting better airflow,in and out, and all of that good stuff for speed i have decided that with my money i will work on the suspension. Because...the suspension is what makes it different from a car, i got my tj to have a great vehicle to go wheeling in and as a daily driver, so i have finally decided on what to do, so im saving for my RE lift for now.

So am i right or wrong for choosing suspension and protection over performance and speed?

Last time I checked you can't hit more than 40 in 4lo (never tried, just guessing). On the trail your top speed isn't going to get you over many rocks or logs. I've always done suspension before power.

If I had to do it all over again heres what I would do :

RE La Lift , Sye, Regear, Winch all at once so the expensive mods are done first .
Then look into body armor since its not as expensive .

My reason i would do it this way is cause i got a lift sye then winch and never regeared but Ive had problems ever sicne i lifted it and ran bigger tires so threw trial and error i realised if i saved and got it all done at once it would have been cheeper todo then have to pay to get the tj repaired like i keep doing

Suspension for sure. You will have to drop way more money into your jeep to make it go fast rather than make it taller.

I think I hit 15-20 with the tera low in low...lol!
hummm lift or top fuel jeep...
I cant see your jeep doing low 8's in the 1/4, but I can see it doing 8 miles per hour through the rubicon!

My CJ5 was geared(and had the power) where it could do 90mph in low-range at 5000 rpm in top gear. Never did it, but the ability was there. Power is important. REALLY important depending on what you do with your Jeep. But a thousand horsepower isn't worth a crap if you can't put it to the ground, and in order to put it to the ground offroad you need some tire, which means you need lift to fit those tires. I do the lift/tires thing before anything else.

hell yah, thanks a lot, makes me feel smart for finally decided that.
cuz like for a 1000 bux i could buy headers and exhaust u know
for a 1000 bux i could lift it which would be way better.
im saving for a 4.5 RE then when i get the cash upgrade to long arm. 33" mt/rs and black wheels...sweet!

Well thanks a lot guys and i like that comment about the 1/4 mile lol! just what i needed! Its cuz i like cars a lot and my friend just got a FIREHAWK!! WHOH! that thing is mean. Thanks!

With that lift height you may need to get a Slip Yoke Eliminator kit and CV drive shaft for the increased drive line angle. Or you may not. I have an auto transmission. If I had a manual I may not have needed it. If you do need it, you're lookin at another 700-900 beans. And don't forget about tires.

Hah! I wish beans were currency, seeing how i live in el paso i could do everything i've ever wanted to my jeep with the savings alone in the pantry. laugh in my head!

Ya I can hit those speeds with tera low too, in 5 th gear!

Swap the word speed for power and you make more sense. A Jeep is not really built for speed. Stick with a car for that.
I think you should start with the lift and then add some performance products to increase power. You can get moderate gains from a chip, cold air intake, throttle body spacer and cat back exhaust. If those mods aren't enough speed for you, then steal the LS1 out of your buddy's Firehawk. That should do it.

haha, i wish, i have this super old four-wheelers magazine, ill scan up a pic, they put an LS1 in a yj. lol! Wait i think thats in a catalog! Yah its one 4Wheeldrive's catalog, there is a page with a yj with an ls1, they have a page on converstions and motor mounts and all that stuff, crazy.
Cool, thanks a lot, yah ima going lift first including sye and nonsense. thanks all
