BIG mopar

I have decide to go with a V8 inplace of my inline six. I want to put a Mopar. I have a 318 that I have just stripped apart and looks in good condition. I have found a cheap 360 and 440. Whats the largest engine That I can put in with little to no fab? I am replacing the finders with tubes but I need to do the engine swap first. Also, I have been searching for convertion kits, but all I come up with is 350 kits is there a place to find a mopar kit?

Almost forgot the 318 is not fuel injected which is my biggest draw back to getting it, but I have a transmission (727) and a Xfer (241) that came with it.

the 318 is not fuel injected.... is an advantage NOT a drawback;
and between a 318 and a 360; I'd take teh 318-hands down; the only waya (stock anyway) 360 wins out is in the number of fuel stops it will need. I have never been in a bind with a 318 that simply having had a 360 would have gotten me out of; my (very) daily driver is an 83 D 250 3/4 ton pickup with yes a 318! my son has an 89 Ramcharger with a 360 and my 318 runs circles around it while being cheaper to drive; I have had both engines (in multiples) as I have only EVER owned Dodges and Jeeps; never ever a front wheel drive either; and though I have a few ideas for what should be a killer 360, stock as they come a 360 is nothing but a gas pig.

problem is in stock configuration, the 318 and 360 will make close to what you 258 does stock for HP and torque. I suggest a swap to a later MPI 4.0 with some mods and tweeks. or if you insist on a v8, look for a 5.3 ls motor oor a LQ9, both can be found for a decent price, double your power output and lots of aftermarket support for the swap.

i think the 360 from the 94ish dodge pick ups are great engines with lots of power. my dad bought the first year of the round front end dodge full size pick up, a long bed extended cab with auto and 360 engine and all the fuel injection had holley stamped into. the intake, injectors, fuel rail, everything. i have only seen one other pick up with the same set up and it was a short bed single cab of the same year. all the rest were chrysler fuel injection

though, the carb'd 318 were great engines too. so is the fuel injected 4.0 though, i am on the fourth vehicle with that engine right now

O the 318 I had one in an 84 Ramcharger and it moved that beast pretty good so I can only imagine what it would be like in something as small as a jeep but it was also a very reliable engine as well and Hell why ruin a good vehicle with something other than mopar parts? As far as doing the swap I have no clue where to find info on it so you might just have to wing it

not too sure about the 318 with out research, but the 360 can re-use 304 motor mounts, honestly, if you are good with a welder, making motor mounts is not too hard. if you google search, you might find some good pics to give you some ideas.

what r u doing with the six and transmission your taking out?
