Body work questions

Post some pics of the rust areas if you can. I know you have swapped in axles and done some other mods. If you ever had the desire to move the axle back, now may be a good time. You can open up the fenders in the rear and it may remove most of the area you wanted to replace. Just a thought. I am about to cut my fenders like the orange Jeep in picture I posted in General Chat under "ATTN: Video Junkies."

There you have them. Living in NY, I've got a crackload of rust on there. I'd like to sandblast inside the part I cut out before I cover it up, but I'm not so sure I'll have access to one by the time I get to it.

RE: Dynomax mufflers?

I thought you had swapped in a one ton full float axle in the rear. Is that picture prior to the conversion or am I thinking of someone else?
Anyway, you can cut the fenders out behind the tire like that orange Jeep I was talking about. I also understand that the YJ has an inner fender liner. If you have one rip it out to make sure that no rust forms behind it. If you cut the fenders out like that orange Jeep and don't like it, then you have really not cost yourself anything because you can still get the weld in replacement corners.
The front is another story altogether, although an easier solution. Buy replacements or make some tube fenders. Poison Spyder and Blue Torch sell some nice tube fenders, but they are pricey. I would acquire those from a junkyard or E-bay them. The front fenders are easy to get off.

RE: 91 Cherokee Not Startin (Sorta)

I did a one-ton rear swap, but not on mine. I do a lot of work on a lot of vehicles for a lot of people.

Believe me when I say that I've thought about cutting my fenders like that orange jeep. I LOVE that look. And believe me when I say I REALLY REALLY want to. Though.... The bad part is.... That requires a fill hose relocation at the least. Even if I simply cut the wells to the back. The rear-most rust hole on my driver side exposes all of my fill hoses as it is now. I'd like to fill those in somehow. If I remove my wheel well linings, then I also lose a lot of salt protection from my underbody. I've considered it all, and I'd like to do something like all that, but its not gonna work out. I'd love to get into a project like that, but I don't have the time or the money.
