Clutch Rattleing

My girlfriend just baught a 2001 Wrangler Sport 4.0 two weeks ago. approx 40K miles.

This weekend I noticed that when it's idleing at a stop and the clutch is not depressed, there is a very noticeable rattle. When I pushed in the clutch (not even all the way), the rattle stopped.
Any ideas what it might be?
If yes, how much to get it fixed?

Sounds like it could be the throw out bearing. Not sure of what it would cost to replace, but considering it was bought 2 weeks ago if it was from a dealer I'd look into seeing if there was a warranty on it or see if the dealer is nice enough to eat the cost. If it was bought from a private owner then chances are you are stuck with the bill.[addsig]

yeah.. when the throwout sits idle, it can rattle, and it can really start to wear out... the long you go without fixing it, the worse it gets

it can be something else, but my money goes on the throwout[addsig]

It was a private sale.
Anything else we should get done while they (the shop) are in there? New clutch? Pilot bearing? other common repair that goes on these jeeps?

There was a recall on some of the 01 models...prob. been a year. You could ask the dealer what models were recalled. I believe it was something w/ the ignition switch. I'd make sure the previous owner took it in, (if her model was one of the recalls), while the jeep is still under warranty. Also my dealer told me they had some problems w/ stereos on 01s, mine had to be replaced completley about 6 months ago.
P.S. Depending on what state you are in, there is something called the lemon law, different names different places, if you really think the job is going to be pricey, and the owner did not clue you in to this little problem, you are not stuck at all. I think most states have some sort of 30 day protection now for car buyers.[addsig]
