Clutch Rattling

Just got that new carb in, and now something else has gone wrong. When I'm at idle and in neutral with the clutch out, the clutch makes this strange rattling noise, like something is bouncing around in my bell housing. It probably does this at all speeds, but I can only hear it at idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

RE: Hot brakes

Possibly your throwout bearing going bad. It'll get louder as the bearings get dry, until it eventually will prevent you from engaging the clutch.

Boxers or Briefs?

How can I diagnose the problem short of waiting for it to start squealing?

RE: Boxers or Briefs?

hard to say, mine went faster as it got frequently dunked while wheelin. You have to drop the transmission to replace it, the might as well replace the clutch too.

Y, whenever y'all started talking about replaceing stuff, I immediately went to the centerforce clutch website and started looking for prices. Gotta look on the brightside. Not: damn, it broke, but: this gives me an excuse to upgrade it! Do y'all know of any other clutches that might be a little cheaper but still an upgrade? I'm only a mild wheeler so I don't need anything SUPER high performance but I do want something better than stock. Thanks.

Alright, the first link didnt have anything, but that second one did, the whole shabang for $130. Now I have to decide between fixing my frame and getting a new clutch. Probably gonna fix my frame then wait for muy clutch to completely crap out. Unless it is causing damage to other drivetrain components?

33" tires and need a matching rim

I just saw this two weeks ago on my buddies 84 CJ7. Call me crazy if you want. Check your clutch fan. I know you think that it sounds like it is in the clutch pedal. My buddies clutch fan seized up and that is what was causing that sound it was rattling his clutch pedal. His lasted for less than a week. It blew apart at 60 miles an hour and went through the radiator. I would check that first. I know you think that it doesn't sound right but it can't hurt to check. Let me know if it fixes it. It only cost me 40.00 to fix it.

RE: Who

Is it normal to hear the knocking not only while in neutral, but while driving? I hear it whenever I let off the gas in 3rd or 2nd gear, and its getting REALLY LOUD....its a hardcore knock and I dont know how much further I can take it. Thanks!!
