Cold Weather

To me there is nothing worse then,

scraping frost off windows/ cleaning off snow
shoveling the driveway
wearing a winter coat
starting the jeep 15 min before i have to get in it
having the top and doors on for 6 months

anyone wanna add or say what they do like about winter, exspecially us from NEW ENGLAND.. or worse

What I like about winter is

going out with some buds early, drinking coffee and cutting a load of firewood when it's about 40 degrees

getting to pull some two wheel drive Toyota turd out of the ditch during a icestorm and when he says thanks, just give him "the look"

killing a poor defenseless deer and then eating it

watching the dog do the fastest potty break in history

and the number one thing I like about winter...... [drum roll]... no freaking mosquitos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen to the mosquitos! I don't mind winter too much seeing as to how i don't have air but i do have a heater in my jeep. And it works surprisingly well. One thing i do have to complain about is the pain from my acl surgery 3 years ago. Something about the cooler weather makes my knee ache. The doctor says it will get worse as i get older, and i'm only 17! Stupid winter.

What I don't like:

Everyone being a wuss about things,
Wasting gas to warm up the vehicle,
Drivers who can't handle their vehicles,
Heating costs,
My water saw freezing,
How long it lasts

What I love:
Endless amounts of activities to do in the snow,
Being one of the only 4 people in town who has no problem driving somewhere,
Putting a cold, starving deer out of its misery... then eating it,
Smokefree NY policy... watching smokers huddle together outside a bar at -30 degrees,
Being the snow/ditch recovery hero,

I miss my plow

I hate cold weather!!! I live in Ohio so its not as bad as it could be, but it gets pretty cold ! This winter will be my first driving but i cant wait to be able to drive where i want as my mom in her sports car is stuck in the drive way. The only thing i like about winter is knowing spring is comeing.

i'm not all about it but on days when you wake up to see the fog lift and catch some snow flakes still falling on the already packed snow just something about it kinda puts all the other stuff behind for a few haha plus gotta love INSANE sleigh riding hahaha woOT .... i do hate drivers that cant control their cars or dont know when to pull over in their hyundai when theres a foot of snow on but other than that its usually not to bad here .... i hate the salt !!! def not good for the rigs !!

I am so happy to have the cold weather back!

Things I like about Winter...

Hunting and killing a deer for food. I could care less about it's status. It had a fair shake in life, and certainly a better life than a steer. They taste batter and are better for you, too ;)

Not having to sweat my arse off at work.

My Carhart bibs over a hoodie. Now that's comfort, baby!

Splitting firewood. I agree 90Xjay, it goes well with the morning coffee. I can't wait until I can let my sons give it a whirl (too young right now). It's just one of those "Wild at Heart" moments to look forward to.

SNOW(1)! - The way it quiets everything down, and how it slows everything down.
SNOW(2)! - Love driving in it and it can turn an easy level one "blue" trail into a "black" one in an hour or two.
SNOW(3)! - letting my kids pummel me with snowballs after a long hard-fought battle that I let them win, but not before getting them all pretty good first ;)

Mosquitos heck! No bugs at all!!!

A crackling fire in the living room.

My Jeep looks good in a hardtop, and it is much quieter on the highway.

Christmas. Everything about it, especially when my family goes to cut down a tree. My kids really know how to pick a "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree, let me tell ya!

Getting dressed up for anything, be it a wedding, a funeral, going to church, or out to dinner with my wife is not a miserable experience because of the heat.

Things I don't like about Winter:

It ends too soon.

The ONLY thing I don't like about the winter is when my friends call with a dire auto emergency, car won't move, needs major work done, sitting in driveway... Have y'ever changed out a radiator on a Bonneville in snow up to your knees? Or tracked down a vacuum leak in freezing rain? It's not fun...

What I love...

The perfect silence of a snowy night, you can hear and see for miles, it's like you're the only one in the whole city.

Being able to cook whatever the heck you want, tasty things like chili, pot roast, beef stew, corned beef and cabbage, things that have to sit on the stove and simmer all day, and not having to worry about how badly it's gonna heat up the kitchen...

Winter wheeling at the Mounds.

Being able to work outdoors and not sweat.

Cutting wood and keeping the stove stoked to keep the house warm (saves on the gas bill like crazy :) )

The way everyone's lawn and trees look like a winter ice-castle, no matter how thick the crabgrass is, or how dead the shrubs are.

Coming in from the cold to a hot cup of coffee, or a mug of cocoa, or a bowl of soup.

Going up north to the cabin, and just chilling out, as the blizzard whips at the windows, feet up to the woodstove, kicked back in the chair, sipping frosty mugs of Bailey's and egg nog with friends while listening to classic rock and talking of times past.

And last, but totally not least...

Frozen waterfalls in the upper peninsula...

I can't wait :D

Since I live on the water I hate to see summer go. But since were not real far from the mountains I cant wait for the ski season. I just hate leaving for work in the morning when its cold. The shifter is like ice cubes, And feels like someone put elmers glue in the gear box. Thanks to the engine block heater at least I dont get the cold starts in the morning. I have no idea why they dont offer heated seats in the wrangler. That would be nice.

It's not going to save you any money in gas, but if I lived in an area that cold, I'd have me a remote-starter for my commuter. I had one in a Ford Explorer once. It was the sweetest thing on a cold morning. Stand at the door and fire it up. Go top off the coffee mug or whatever part of your routine is, then go out to your Jeep with the heat blasting.

They're pretty inexpensive these days.

I hate when I'm all sweaty and sunburned from mowing the lawn in December  I miss winter

Doesn't snow here very much so when that comes it definitely is a treat. Maybe not the deep winter but i sure do love the fall and leading right up to winter. The kind of camping weather where you can sit around the campfire with your family at night to joke and roast marshmallows and still not have your fingers frozen stiff so you can throw some ball during the day. Winter is also awesome for gettin to cuddle while it's freezing outside because your girlfriend is "cold".And those times when you skip school to go mudding, get stuck, and have to walk 4 miles home in 20 degree weather without a real jacket.... o wait no that wasn't fun.

Heck yeah!! Digging a 20-foot trench in 20 degree weather is so much more comfortable than it is in 110 degree weather. Nothing like layering up with some good warm clothes you can strip off as the need arises.

I love the quiet of my little town any time of the year, but when it snows, yeah....nothing like it in the world.

NO DANG STINGING WASPS TO SEND SPARKY TO THE HOSPITAL!!!!

Oh, and I too love to have a crackling fire in the living room. Although, judging from the condition of the floor and ceiling, Sunshine and I may have to put in some kind of wood-burner or fireplace this year....don't know how much longer those floorboards will hold up to the heat.......

Got a stick. They wont install them and you got to leave it in nuetral overnight. Not good if you forget.

Yeah I love the winter...the temp last weekend was mid 80s with a breeze. Another couple months we will be in perfect weather. Mid 70s and sunny. Then its March and I head out west for some spring skiing. My days of scrapping windshields are over!

I'd prefer scraping ice to dodging huricanes!

The only thing I hate is all the morons that don't understand that when the ground is snow covered and icy, 4wd/ Awd/ and ABS doesn't mean you can drive the same speeds and expect to stop just as quickly as on dry roads. I have had to handle way too many accidents and it makes me sick when i have to work. I drive a Rwd Crown Vic around in the snow with no added stuff for traction and i can hack it, but i have seen a lifted blazer rammed into a bank because he tried to stop at the light and slid through the intersection, did a 180 and went off road into the building. As for me I have had some close calls on black ice which is scary as hell. Ever drive down a straight road doing a steady speed all of a sudden your tires in the back start spinning and you shift towards a 5 ft drop off on the side of the road? That will streak your underwear. LOL. I prayed real hard that night.
