Common mods.......

I am hopefully purchasing a 95 Grand Cherokee limited v8 next weekend (if all goes well) and I was wondering what some of the most common mods are, eventually I will be lifting it and getting new tires and maybe wheels (probably this summer when i can make some decent money) but for now just going to do some of the cheaper mods. I was thinking of a new exhaust system at some point, which would u guys reccomend. It has the infinity gold system but do you think the speakers and amp may need an upgrade? Should i put my cd player in or leeve the stock, which is better I have a Pioneer dph6400 that i like a lot but will the stock infinity sound better than that??? It already has a bug shield and a sun visor and the rear air thing (cant think of the right name for those) so it looks pretty sweet on the outside. Just post any type of mods, thanks alot

name stealer! (my name's nate too...)... but to answer your questions...

i'd suggest driving the thing stock for a few weeks/months and just get all the bugs worked out. change ALL the fluids (engine oil, transmission, transfer case, diff's, coolant, brake fluid, etc...), change the belt(s), hoses (if cracked or dry) and do a tune up (spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor) change the air filter, fuel filter, and whatever else needs work. at 8 years old, chances are its not perfectly up to date on its maintenence history.

as for the stereo, its all up to you. some people like having a decent system, while others save their money for other mods. i have a JVC head unit with the OEM jensen 6 speaker component speakers and a 12" sub in the back. i like it alot. do what you want.

this 'rear air thing'... a spoiler?

how many miles are on it?[addsig]

if you want an exaust system flowmaster has a cat back system for those v8 grand cherokees that sound very sweet. I agree 100 % with dingus on changing all the fluids and doing a tune up. The best way to get a few more horses is to put a k&n cool air induction on it you will be able to tell a very big difference with just those two mods.

hollow out the cat. its illegal but it'll give you some nice growl and more power, specially with that 8[addsig]

that sounds like a good idea to get all the bugs worked out and do a tune up and stuff, although not as fun probably smart. i found an exhaust system i think i might get in a month or so off of rustysoffroad.com its the flowmaster muffler and some other tip but it looks like a good deal at $169. anyone have or use that one???

thanks for the replies

ps. how much would a tune up and fluid change cost (ruff estimate)?[addsig]

ive got a 97 jgc limited and have remove the mechanical fan and replaced with an electric, k&n filter and a flowmaster. when it's runing right i love it but lately i seem to be fixing it more than driving it.[addsig]

Dingus, it usually goes around and around in circles, moves air and goes brrruuuuuuuuuuuuu. Supposed to add a couple of horses, and sure helps keep the motor clean if the muck gets any deeper than about a foot or so. Second piece I change on deep water Jeeps, first being intake.
