coolant overflow bottle overflowed!

My 82 cj7 is not my primary vehicle but it does get driven at least once a week. Yesterday I took it for a short drive, and when I stopped, I saw approx a quart of coolant pouring out from underneathe. I lifted the hood to see the overflow bottle overflowing. Never happened before. I'm handy and have the tools, but not good enough yet with diagnostics...thats where you guys come in. Any comments?

I would get a pressure tester and check to see if there is sumthing blocking the coolant hoses or that ur thermostats isn't opening up that where I would start at

Check the cap. The cap could have failed.

Perhaps it's as simple as burping the cooling system
