Why not take the opportunity to upgrade to a Ford 8.8 or Dana 44?

for $1200.00 you can get a super 35 kit with a locker and stronger axle shafts, will be better than stock but probably not as strong as a D44 or ford 8.8 but it is a true bolt in without cutting or welding

did I just read that correct?

$1200 for a D35...

I gave away my D35, as have 99% of the people I know who have them.

also, replace it with something better.

Considering the locker, though... A locker alone can be pricey. Add alloy shafts, and the price goes up. This is regardless of the axle.

I do agree, though, that it is better not to spend good money on a D35; I did that, and the axle has held up so far, but I would have been happier (and invested the same amount of money) to swap a D44 instead...

Yes I've found an 8.8 to use for only 150, but I can't find a mechinik that will do the swap for me because of the diff placement. I would love to do it myself, but I am just not good with cars. However, I can build anything out of wood or even a missle. So I'm stuck with using a 35. I have found a super 35 kit using a detroit because that is the cheapest at only 900. So let me have your opinion there. I know it won't be the best on the road but in the last 2 yrs I've only put 5000 miles on it and I don't forsee any change do to deploying overseas every other year.

What locker? what shafts? no mention of them in the OP. I am sure thats $1200 for someone to put a D35 in his jeep.

Look for an offroad shop in Texas, this came up on my first google search

yes it is 1200$ for the super 35 kit its so not worth the money i would hold out and find a direct swap 44 from a rubi. u will find one and in the mean time look at ur diff and see if the c clip is broken or have a mechanic look at it. if u cant do that then i would suggest driving another car if u got one. good luck bud hope everything works out. i have been looking for a set of 44's for a while and it seems that wranglerbarn on ebay has some good ones. but there has got to b others. i just dont have the cash to dump into the Jeep right now.

No the c clip wasn't broken, and no it was 900 for the cheapest axle plus 200 in gas for me to drive that far. Against my better judgement I bought the yukon 35 kit with the detroit locker. Hope it's done by this monday. It's been hard running to work every morning, well mostly walking cause it's a 12 mi trip. Thanks for ya'lls help, my wife say's maybe I'll have better luck on the next jeep this one's gotta go. I'm not too upset cause I got my eye on a yj down the street thats just begging me to put a 5.3 in it.;)

I would not use a Rubi 44; they have thinner tubes. If I am going to spend the work and money, I would go for an Isuzu or Honda D44 rear and Waggy D44 front. You get disc brakes, mini drum e-brake, and better wheel pattern as a bonus...

Well the reason i wanted to do the d44 from rubi BC the bolt pattern for the wheels and the direct bolt on capability. plus the built in lockers, and there is alot of upgrades to strengthen it if need be....less welding and BS to deal with. :shades:
